Thank you for visiting our Wine Basics page. Following are answers to your general questions about Almaden Vineyards and our wines.

Q:        How can a wine stain be removed?

A:        Most wine stains can be removed from permanent press, cotton blends and cotton fabrics by sponging with undiluted white vinegar, as soon as possible.  Launder or commercially dry clean. For red wine stains, immediately sponge area with white wine.  Continue until red color is removed.

Q:        Does the Almaden winery provide tours?

A:        Almaden Vineyards Winery is not open to the public and does not provide tours.

Q:        What is the difference between Mountain Chablis and Golden Chablis?

A:        Almaden offers two different chablis blends, with slightly different characteristics to meet the different flavor preferences of our white wine consumers.  The variation is in the sweetness of the product: Mountain Chablis is a drier, crisper flavor (residual sugar of 1.0g/100ml), while Golden Chablis (residual sugar of 2.6g/100ml) offers a medium sweetness level with a bit more body.  The different flavor profiles are achieved through selected blending of varietal grapes.
